Newsletter 31.03.17

F1 explored a variety of Science experiment last Tuesday with their families. All children showed great confidence in discovering and finding out about different things.

We had 5 different Science experiments.

First, we had the 'Pepper and Soap Experiment'. They were all amazed at how the pepper was repelled by the soap.

We also had 'Ice and Oil Experiment'. The children dropped the coloured ice cubes in to the oil and observed how coloured droplets were formed when they melted. They also noticed that the ice became jelly-like.

'Floating and Sinking' is also one experiment that the children engaged in. They tried different objects and discovered that some float and some sink in water.

The children also explored tea leaves. They smelt them, felt them and scooped them in to containers.

Using a stick, children also explored 'Musical Bottles'. With different amount of liquid in them, they made different sound pitches.

Lastly, children and their parents joined in looking at 'Optical Illusions'. They were very tricky but we had some good eyes in our F1 Family!

A big thank you for all of you who joined us in this fun and exciting afternoon. Your presence made it more special!

We would also like to thank all of you for a wonderful term 2. The children have shown progress and we are very proud of them!

NOTICES:

* Easter break is from 3rd April up to the 14th April. School reopens on Monday 17th April.

Have a relaxing break!

See you all in Term 3!

Kind Regards;

Ms Crislet, Ms Grace and the F1 Team

Dear Parents,

Take a look at the photos below to see how amazingly we spent the week at school!

ARC and a Vet visit

Following up on the first visit they had last week, Dr Nghia a vet came to show the children what he does as a docotor for animals. He even showed them a special tool the he uses to listen to the animals' heartbeat, it's called a stethoscope.

Children also met a dog named Ziggy and were able to pet hom for a while. He was a gentle furry pet to have!

Dear Zoo

F1 finally was given a pet by the zoo! It came in a box and he was just PERFECT!

We were also very lucky to celebrate Thao's birthday in class. Happy birthday Thao!

Reminder:

* Science Day will be on Tuesday. EYFS will investigate various activities on that day. Parents are invited to come at 2pm to join us and experiment with your child.

Regards,
Ms Grace, Ms Crislet and the F1 team

Newsletter 17.03.17

This week, we wrote to the zoo to send us a pet. They sent us an elephant. It was too big! We sent him back!

So they sent us a giraffe. He was too tall! We sent him back!

So they sent us a lion! He was too fierce! We sent him back!

So they sent us a camel. He was too grumpy! We sent him back!

So they sent us a snake! He was too scary! We sent him back!

Oh dear! We hope the zoo will finally send us the most perfect pet next week! A pet just like Kitty whom Ms Koto and Mr Oliver from Animal Rescue and Care (ARC) brought in last Tuesday.

Kitty is such a sweet little cat. We love giving him cuddles, feeding him regularly with the right food and grooming him so he stays clean and good-looking all the time!

Well done F1 children for being so kind and caring towards Kitty! Ms Koto and Mr Oliver will be really happy to see him again on Tuesday when they come back for another visit!

NOTICES:
  • We are still going to continue with our focus story 'Dear Zoo' next week.
  • ARC visits: Animal Rescue and Care is EYFS' community partner. This first visit was for them to talk about how we can take good care of our pets. Ms Koto and Mr Oliver will be coming back and this time, with a real cat. A veterinarian is also scheduled to visit us soon.
  • Easter break will be from 3rd April until the 14th. School reopens on Monday 17th April.
  • Please join us as welcome Logan and his family. We are looking forward to making memories with you this year!

Thank you!

Have a lovely weekend!

Play in the Main Playground

This week we ventured to a different area at school that we have not been in since we started school at TX. Ms Crislet and I feel that the children in F1 will benefit a lot in using the big playground so we went to let them play football!

This activity doesn't only focuses on the development of their gross motor skills such as:

* Running safely on their feet.
* Kicking a large ball.

But it also develops their personal and social skills through:

* Playing alongside each other and cooperatively with a friend.
* Taking turns and sharing the ball with their peers.
* Responding and cooperating to boundaries.

Have a lovely weekend. See you all next week.

Regards,
Ms Grace, Ms Crislet and the F1 Team

Newsletter 03.03.17

As F1 has been learning about the story 'The Three Little Pigs', Ms Grace graciously invited us to see her very own house!

All throughout the trip, children were well-behaved and actively joined in all the activities. We first had a tour of Ms Grace's apartment and looked at the bedrooms, kitchen, living room and bathrooms. We then played a game by finding different shapes around us. We saw a circle fan, a square pillow, a rectangle door and more! We then had our snack in the living room and then played with some of Ms Grace's daughter's toys.

We also noticed that Ms Grace's apartment is made of bricks and cement. It is very strong and we are certain that the big bad wolf will not be able to blow it down!

Thank you Ms Grace for inviting us over! We had a fantastic time!

NOTICE:

  • Saturday 4th March - BIS TX Family Day. Please see separate post for more details.

Thank you!

Have a great weekend!
