Newsletter 28.10.16

First of all, please join us in welcoming Long in to our F1 Family. We look forward to sharing lots of fun memories with you this year!

This week, we've added another focus in our circle time. We have introduced our emotion board wherein children will place their photo in a block to indicate how they feel everyday. This is one way to develop children's self-awareness and their communication skills.

So far, the children have been responding very well and they even look at the board and talk about the emotions once in a while during the day.

This week, we have also brought the children to the library as we will formally start our library sessions next week. The children sat beautifully and listened attentively to Ms Grace whilst she introduced the routine as well as Ms Van who works in the library. The children were so excited as they walked around the library and saw lots of books. We are certain that they are ready for this new routine and that we will have amazing times in the library!

------------------------------

Ms Grace and I would like to thank everyone who went to the 'Messy Play' coffee morning last Wednesday. We hope you enjoyed the session. Ms Grace and I will update our class blog with messy play ideas for all of you.

NOTICES:

  • Library Sessions will be every Wednesday. Each child will be able to borrow a book which will be put in his/her own library folder. Please return the book in your child's library folder on or before Tuesday of the following week.
  • Splash Pool sessions will also commence next week. These will be every Tuesday and Friday. On these days, please do not forget to bring your child's swimming kit with his/her swimming suit and towel, all labelled with your child's name. As it gets sunny during splash pool sessions, may we ask you to apply sunblock or sunscreen lotion on your child's skin before school.
  • If your child is unwell and is unable to join the splash pool session, please provide a doctor's note indicating the reason.
  • EYFS Family Morning is coming soon.

Have a lovely weekend!

Thank you!

Kind Regards;
Ms Crislet, Ms Grace and the F1 Team

Newsletter 14.10.2016

Dear Parents,

It is a joy seeing the children in F1 sitting nicely and joining in our circle time. They are becoming more aware of this routine in class and we are taking advantage of this by introducing more ideas and initiatives.

Here's 'Give Me Five', this initiative is part of our circle time session where we remind the children what the behaviour expectation is in the classroom especially during story time and other focused group activities.

We've also talked about 'Emotions' and introduced our 3 friends to them. Every morning as part of our hello time, we ask the children the question 'How do you feel today?' and they get to use the puppets to convey their feelings for that morning. Some children are able to say/name "I'm happy.", "I'm sad.' or "I'm angry." but for some children who are still quiet and shy they can choose to use the puppets to tell their emotions for everybody to know.

Just a gentle reminder :

* School finishes at 11.30am (half-day) and 2.30pm (full day) if parents or carers (nannies etc) arrive at school earlier than these times kindly stay in the office or the foyer to wait for dismissal time. We discourage parents and nannies to stay near the classroom where the children can easily see you.

* EYFS Coffee Morning for Parents - Messy Play will take place on Wednesday 26th October at 8am in the Multi-Purpose Room. All parents are encouraged to come and join us.

Have a lovely half-term break!

Regards,
Ms Grace, Ms Crislet and the F1 Team

What a 'natural' way to spend a week in F1! Children have been given opportunities to play with cardboard boxes and we were surprised with how much creative things they have came up with! They were able to make cars, trains, boats, beds and even a place to play a variety of toys in. We have also been using cardboard boxes for mark-making and they made fantastic drawings on them!

We have introduced 2 songs to the children this week: 'Little Green Frog' and 'Open, Shut Them' The children are showing great interest and enthusiasm every time we sing songs and dance. Our new music area has also been very popular amongst them. They have been playing a variety of musical instruments such as bells, maracas, hand drum, tambourine and Djembe drum.

For our circle session focus this week, we have introduced our visual timetable which we will use everyday to talk about what will happen during the day. We will add the days of the week and weather once they become familiar with the timetable.

Well done F1!
