Dear Parents,

Hohohoho! Happy Christmas!

On the first day of Christmas, F1 children decorated the tree with lots of colourful tinsels and baubles. Oh what a delight to see them giggling and laughing as they put each trinket up in the tree.

We have also started creating our Christmas display for the show. Today, the children have been busy sticking and decorating their 'Elves'. Whilst some are in the crafts table, some were in the role play area singing their hearts out as they wrapped boxes for presents to put under the Christmas tree.

Have a lovely weekend!

Regards,
Ms Grace, Ms Crislet and the F1 Team

Boxes of Hope

 Boxes Of Hope!

Boxes Of Hope is when you give a Christmas gift to an orphan which has, probably not been given a gift before! We're doing this cause for good reasons and for people to be happy.
You will be given this sheet and a box on Friday. On the sheet you will be able to choose if you want to give your gift to a boy or a girl. There are instructions on the sheet, and information about what to put in your present, and what NOT to put in.

Here is some pictures of the sheet.

Thank you, we are aiming for 300 boxes! So make sure you put something inside that box.
Thanks,
Student Council

When Goldilocks went to the class of F1,
Oh what did her blue eyes see?

A cottage role play and a table with porridge!

She counted them 1, 2, 3!

When Goldilocks went to the class of F1,
Oh what did her blue eyes see?

A 'Funky Fingers' table with pegs and plates!

She counted them 1, 2, 3!

When Goldilocks went to the class of F1,
Oh what did her blue eyes see?

A maths table with people counters and plates saying big, medium and small!

She counted them 1, 2, 3!

When Goldilocks went to the house of the bears,
Oh what did her blue eyes see?

A tuff spot with coffee beans and a tuff spot with porridge!

She counted them 1, 2, 3!

When Goldilocks went to the house of the bears,
Oh what did her blue eyes see?

An IWB with 'Dress-up the bears' game!

--------------------------------------------------------------------

This week's focus story is 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. We taught the children the song and read the story to them too. Next week, we will continue with this focus and will do more different activities about it.

Here's the lyrics and the video of the song: Goldilocks and the Three Bears

When Goldilocks went to the house of the bears,
Oh what did her blue eyes see?
A bowl that was big, a bowl that was medium and a bowl that was small- and that was all,
she counted them 1, 2, 3!

When Goldilocks went to the house of the bears,
Oh what did her blue eyes see?
A chair that was big, a chair that was medium and a chair that was small- and that was all,
she counted them 1, 2, 3!

When Goldilocks went to the house of the bears,
Oh what did her blue eyes see?
A bed that was big, a bed that was medium and a bed that was small- and that was all,
she counted them 1, 2, 3!

When Goldilocks went to the house of the bears,
Oh what did her blue eyes see?
A bear that was big, a bear that was medium and a bear that was small- and that was all,
they growled at her Roar, Roar, Roar!

*We changed 'huge, small and tiny' to 'big, medium and small'.

Here are this week's highlights:

* In line with nursery rhyme week, we have been learning 'Incy Wincy Spider' and 'Little Miss Muffet' this week. The children have been joining in singing and reciting the rhymes and doing the actions at the same time as part of our 'Talk for Writing'.

For some children, they were able to draw their own story map of 'Incy Wincy Spider'. Here are some of their fantastic drawings:

* For our creative activity, we tried marble painting this week. Children enjoyed shaking the basket and seeing the marbles leave marks on their paper. In the end, we had amazing spider webs and we also added 'Incy Wincy' on them.

* We have also made our very own kinetic sand with sand, cornflour, water and food colour. The children had fun mixing the ingredients and using the knives and moulds as they play with it. Please see recipe on the Messy Play page.

* For ICT, we have been encouraging children to draw on the Interactive Whiteboard using the Activ Inspire software. Most of the children were able to manipulate the IWB pen and use it to click on their chosen colours.

* This morning, we had a visit from Mr Andy Gleadhill, an educator and professional percussionist. He is currently here with us to hold percussion workshops to all classes. He gladly let the children played with an array of instruments and encouraged them to do various beats. Please see video below.

Newsletter 04.11.16

Dear Parents,

We have started a new role play area in the classroom based on most of the children's interest in the past which is Transports. All of us including the children helped create a Bus Station in F1. Children were surprised to see 2 buses made of boxes waiting for them to be painted. Some of them spent a considerable amount of time painting the boxes with the color of their choice. Those 2 lonely boxes turned into a colourful buses that the children have been playing with!

This week in class, we have also introduced 4 reading buddies. These tiny, cuddly toys are here to support us in developing the children's vocabulary and language skills. Through these animals reading a story is a more fun activity to do in the classroom. We have also been focusing on the nursery rhyme, Incy Wincy Spider as part of our Talk for Writing initiative at school. 'Talk for Writing enables children to imitate the key language they need for a particular topic orally before they try reading and analysing the story.' In F1, we have been using exciting props, pictures and drawings to make it easier and fun for the children to understand and learn a story or rhyme.

Splash pool was a success this week as the children have shown confidence in the water. We are very excited to have another session next week! Please make sure to let your children bring in their swimming kit to school (swimming costume and towel - all properly labelled).

In Maths, we have been using coloured chains in learning/saying numbers names in random and in sequence. Some children can say numbers names to 10 and are showing awareness of counting objects too.

A new addition to the Messy Play idea can be found here. (please click the link)

Three new children joined F1 this week, I know you will all join us in welcoming Long, Tony and Chi and their families into BIS Tu Xuong campus!

Just a quick reminder about 2 upcoming events at TX

* International Celebration - week beginning 14th November (children dressing up in their national costumes)

* EYFS Family Morning - Saturday 26th November (more information to follow)

Have a lovely weekend!

Ms Grace, Ms Crislet and the F1 Team

First of all, please join us in welcoming Long in to our F1 Family. We look forward to sharing lots of fun memories with you this year!

This week, we've added another focus in our circle time. We have introduced our emotion board wherein children will place their photo in a block to indicate how they feel everyday. This is one way to develop children's self-awareness and their communication skills.

So far, the children have been responding very well and they even look at the board and talk about the emotions once in a while during the day.

This week, we have also brought the children to the library as we will formally start our library sessions next week. The children sat beautifully and listened attentively to Ms Grace whilst she introduced the routine as well as Ms Van who works in the library. The children were so excited as they walked around the library and saw lots of books. We are certain that they are ready for this new routine and that we will have amazing times in the library!

------------------------------

Ms Grace and I would like to thank everyone who went to the 'Messy Play' coffee morning last Wednesday. We hope you enjoyed the session. Ms Grace and I will update our class blog with messy play ideas for all of you.

On these days, please do not forget to bring your child's swimming kit with his/her swimming suit and towel, all labelled with your child's name.
