This week, we have all been very busy rehearsing our songs for the EYFS Summer Concert. The witches are having fun making potions with cobwebs, spider, eyeballs, wing of bat and okra. The fairy tale characters on the other hand still don't like the big bad wolf.

Here are the  lyrics of our songs:

This week, we had the chance to watch Milepost 1's production 'Goblin Next Door'. It was a great show and all of us enjoyed watching it. Well done Milepost 1!

Last Wednesday, during our library session, Ms Grace read the story 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. The children showed a great interest in the story and some even joined in at repeating 'Fee Fi Fo Fum!'

Next week, we will be focusing more on this story and will be doing more activities about this.

Below is our rainbow activity. This will be part of our 'Jack and the Beanstalk' role-play area display next week. These group of children happily helped out in sticking different coloured paper and look at how beautiful our rainbow looks! Well done children!

We also just celebrated Logan's 3rd birthday party this morning. Happy Birthday Logan!

Welcome to F1 unit Ms Nhi!
Happy Birthday Liza!

REMINDERS:

* We have been noticing that children have brought different kinds/sizes of towels to school during splash pool session. May we request that parents prepare a decent size of bath towels enough to cover your children after swimming. It should also be absorbent enough to keep your child dry. Face towels or muslin cloth aren't enough to help the children get dry after swimming.

* Swim diapers should always be brought for children who are still toilet training during splash pool sessions. Spare nappies/pull ups should also be available in their bags all the time.

Thank you and have a great weekend!

Regards,
Ms Grace, Ms Crislet and the F1 Team

Newsletter 12.05.17

This week's focus group activities involved tea tasting, 'Walking through the Jungle' for our talk for writing and singing '5 Little Monkeys'.

Ms Grace asked the children to help her prepare tea and then all of them had a cup each. Some children even had second servings. They also learnt new vocabulary words such as 'tea', 'teapot', 'tea cup' and the song 'I'm a Little Teapot'.

For our Talk for Writing, Ms Crislet shared the story 'Walking through the Jungle'. She drew pictures of animals and wrote the sounds they make such as 'ssss', 'grrr' and more. Children actively joined in at saying the lines from the story and also did the actions very well.

Lastly, Ms Hoang led the children in singing '5 Little Monkeys'. They talked about monkeys and crocodiles and made their corresponding sounds and actions.

*Tapestry and Blogger

Dear Parents,

We would like to remind everybody about regularly accessing your child’s Tapestry account and our class blog.

Your child’s Tapestry account is very helpful in knowing what your child has been doing in class. This is also a great way to share photos of what your child does at home so we can share them with the rest of the class.

Our class blog is another way of learning about various activities we all do as a whole class and other information about the school. We update the class blog every Friday.

Here’s the link of our class blog - http://xf1x2016-2017.blogspot.com/

Should you have any problem accessing Tapestry, please do not hesitate to ask any of your child's class teachers.

Please see separate post regarding this.

Thank you!

Have a lovely weekend!

Walking through the Jungle

Engaging in different activities focusing on our story has been so great amongst the children in F1! They have been so enthusiastic listening to various animal noises and identifying the animals that make a particular sound. In the soft play room, children had a go at creating these animal noises and doing some movements based on the story through a fun activity with Ms Ngoc Anh and Ms Crislet. Don't be surprised if you see children 'creeping', 'leaping', 'swinging' and 'wading' at home as they look for animals around them.

For crafts, they have been busy painting, cutting and drawing the animals that we are focusing in class. They have made a paper plate snake and a tiger which will be displayed on our board next week.

ICT

Children have been using the IWB in drawing different pictures that interest them. We are very pleased at how confident they are in using the pen on the IWB. Ms Hoang on the other hand, supported the children in using the mouse and the computer.

Have a lovely weekend.

Regards,
Ms Grace, Ms Crislet and the F1 Team

This week, we have introduced the story 'Walking through the Jungle' to support and extend children's interest in animals. The story talks about different actions such as walking, running, leaping, creeping, swinging and wading and these will be part of our physical activity next week. It also talks about a variety of animals and the noises they make.

If you would like to see the story, please click this link: Walking through the Jungle by Julie Lacome

This week, 2 new children have joined us in F1. We would like to welcome Misa and Nguyen and their families! We are looking forward to sharing wonderful moments with you this term!

Please have a look at these brilliant photos taken this week:

NOTICES:

* School is closed on Monday and Tuesday 1st and 2nd May. School reopens on Wednesday 3rd May.

* Splash Pool sessions: Please do not forget to bring in your child's swimming kit (with proper/big towel and swimsuit) every Tuesdays and Fridays.

* Sickness: This is just a gentle reminder that if your child has been sick overnight, then he/she needs to stay at home. Please see excerpt from the parent handbook.

‘For the wellbeing of our school community, if your child is unwell or sick overnight or when they wake in the morning they should be kept at home until they are rested and symptom free for at least 24 hours (48 hours for Diarrhoea).’ (Page 14, Early Years and Primary Parent Handbook

* As you may have noticed, we have new children who are settling in at the moment. May we request you to please bring your child in class and immediately say goodbye. Children who are settling in find it more difficult if they see other mummies or daddies around. We truly appreciate your cooperation on this matter.

Thank you!

Have a wonderful long weekend!

Ms Crislet, Ms Grace and the F1 Team
